A Downtown Abbey Across the Divide Social Situation

This post has nothing to do with Downton Abbey...but relationships which cross the Eternal social divide is what Jesus specialises in.

A Man of the Law Cannot by the Law of His Mind Be Married to what He sees as Failure

9 November 2013 at 17:46

Ruth was a poor women from Moab who worked in Boaz' fields trying to make a living for herself. She asked Boaz to redeem her and he said he first would ask the Man of the Law who has a right for her, if he wants to redeem her and her land (heart).
When Boaz met this Law Keeper who lives by the laws of his own mind, he asked him of he would redeem the land, the law keeper said yes! But when he realized he has to be married to Ruth the Moabite - a woman whom his law said he cannot be married to, because she doesn't meet his standard, she isn't good enough or him, she is not compatible, and according to his own laws she is filthy, and unworthy to be his wife... when this law keeper realized it's her, he refused to be one with her:

Ruth 4:6 And the kinsman said, I cannot redeem for myself, lest I mar my own inheritance. You redeem my right to yourself, for I cannot redeem.

The reason why he could not be one with her because she would shame him. what would people say that he is married and one with such a failure, a woman who is not equal to himself, such filth in his own eyes. According to his own laws he is not allowed even t touch her, let lone have any intimacy with her. She is like a leper, no law keeper can be one or be seen with such a woman.

We know another law keeper man who was about to divorce his woman because she failed to meet the standard of his own laws - Joseph from Nazareth was about to cancel his marriage to Mary.

It was God who interfered and spoke to Joseph telling him to see what's inside of her, to look on the inside, Christ in her, because God is in her inside.

But when law keepers look at one another all they see is what's failing and missing and not good enough, they see something they despise, who should be rejected:

Isaiah 53:2 My Servant grew up in the LORD's presence like a tender green shoot, like a root in dry ground. There was nothing beautiful or majestic about His appearance, nothing to attract us to Him. Isaiah 53:3 He was despised and rejected—a man of sorrows, acquainted with deepest grief. We turned our backs on Him and looked the other way. He was despised, and we did not care.

God took the despised of the world, the lowly, the failures, the messed up ones to shame those who think they got it all together, who think they are better than others, who esteem themselves above others, who measure themselves according to their own successes who toss out those who don't measure up to their standard, those wise guys.

When we live under the system of law mindset, we became slave to that system - under it this is what it says about those wise guys:

Jeremiah 8:9-11 NASB "The wise men are put to shame, They are dismayed and caught; Behold, they have rejected the word of the LORD, And what kind of wisdom do they have? (10) "Therefore I will give their wives to others, Their fields to new owners; Because from the least even to the greatest Everyone is greedy for gain; From the prophet even to the priest Everyone practices deceit. (11) "They heal the brokenness of the daughter of My people superficially, Saying, 'Peace, peace,' But there is no peace. (no oneness, they cannot see completeness)

The law keeper didn't want to be one with Ruth, in his own worldly wisdom of laws and standards, he rejected her, He wanted her land, but didn't want her - he only wanted what she could give him and how he can benefit form her, but he didn't want her, had no interest in knowing her, or having any relationship with her. He couldn't bear the thought that she would carry his name, let alone touch her or be worthy of being the mother of his children. So she was given to another, to Boaz, a man with abundance of love - a true lover.

I don't just preach this message, I've experienced it and lived it many times and was a stumbling block to law keepers... but my Lover kept me. I feel broken, beat, crushed, torn to pieces, like the woman who committed adultery who had a revelation for herself of how accepted, included, loved and precious she is to her lover.

Yes, Christ looks like me and He is who I AM and still is a stumbling block to law keepers who would not be one with a woman who does not meet the requirements of their own laws.

But who believes what we've heard and seen? Who would have thought GOD's saving power would look like this? Isa 53:1

Much love,
